Courts Reopening April 26th - Tennis Ireland Guidelines

posted 3 May 2021, 02:42 by Philip Mulligan

As you know the courts are opening on April 26th which is great news for us all. You can start booking your courts now for Monday April 26th onwards as the Booking system is up and running (full details of the booking system can be found below).

Just to go through some main points – please please please read:

To access the courts in Level 5, a player must be a current member and have a pre-reserved booking – to make my job in administrating the court bookings a lot easier please do not make a booking if you have not renewed your membership as you will not be allowed on court. Please see below for links to membership renewal and please renew in good time before the 26th.

A parent/guardian must accompany any player under 16 years of age

Play is restricted to outdoor singles. The only exception for doubles play is if playing partners are from the same household.

There will be a court supervisor for every time slot where there is a booking. I really appreciate all the members who supervised last year especially as I tended to call on the usual suspects every week. I will be looking for volunteers again from Monday 26th and thanks again for volunteering. To make supervisors and my job easier please book your court in good time. I send the list of daily bookings to that day’s supervisors every morning so please make sure you book your court at least one day in advance. You won’t be allowed on court if you do not have a booking so please cooperate with all the supervisors.

When making a booking you must enter all the full names of all of the players playing in the title field of the booking system (just above notes field) including your own name.

Coaching offer - As a concession to members the Club with subsidise individual coaching lessons with Lesley to the tune of €10 per 30 minute lesson to a maximum of €20 per member. Contact Lesley to book your lesson as normal and pay the balance directly to Lesley.

Court Booking System

The booking system can be found at https://glenalbyntc.skedda.com/booking?viewdate=2021-04-26 and is simple to use. You must set up an account before making a booking however, if you already have a google, facebook or twitter login you can use that login rather than setting up a new one.

The booking slots each day are:

·         09:00 – 10:00

·         10:15 – 11:15

·         11:30 – 12:30

·         12:45 – 13:45

·         14:00 – 15:00

·         15:15 – 16:15

·         16:30 – 17:30

·         17:45 – 18:45

·         19:00 – 20:00

·         20:15 – 21:15

·         When making a booking you must enter all the full names of all of the players playing in the title field. This is vital from a traceability point of view. If for some reason you are unable to play and get a replacement sub then you must change the booking details and enter the sub’s name instead of you own. If your name is not on the booking then you will be refused entry to the courts. A booking confirmation is sent by email to the person making the booking.

·         There are 15 minute buffers between timeslots so that the groups finishing will have left the courts before the next group arrives. If you arrive late for your slot you must still leave the courts immediately at the end of the slot.

·         Players should arrive ready to play as there will be no access to dressing rooms or toilets during this phase

·         Arrive as close as possible to when you are due on court and leave immediately afterwards

·         Social distancing should be maintained at all times of two metres apart

·         Singles only allowed unless you are partnering with someone from the same household.

2020 Club Championships

We were nearly the end of our Club Championships last year when we had to suspend them due to increased restrictions. We will finish the championships as soon as we get the go ahead to resume competitive tennis.
