Glenalbyn Tennis Club Championships 2017

posted 30 Aug 2017, 11:14 by Philip Mulligan

The re-scheduled Club Championships are starting on Monday 11th September with the finals to be held on Saturday October 7th (however the mixed doubles final will be on the Friday night and only singles and doubles on the Saturday to avoid the situation where somebody may have to play 3 matches on the Saturday).

Please note:

If you already entered in June and are happy to enter now in September then you do not have to do anything your name will be entered in a revised draw

If you entered in June and are UNABLE to play in September then please email Tom and Cliodhne and you will be removed from the draw and we will refund your money if you have paid already

If you did not enter in June and want to play now then please email your entry form to Tom or Cliodhne before Thursday 7th September

After a large entry and successful Club Championships in 2016, we are hoping to grow the Championships even more this year with as many members as possible participating. There will be five events, ladies and men’s singles and doubles as well as mixed doubles. These events will be separated into two sections based on the level of the participant, with those playing at Class 1-5 in Section A and those at Class 6, 7 and others in Section B, being the guidelines for the division between the sections. Each event will have a plate competition for those who are defeated in the first round, ensuring each participant has at least two matches. Looking forward to seeing a large entry this year again. Thanks to Tom Gallery, Cliodhne Hamilton, Gary Younger, Johnny Kelly and Tony O’Byrne for organising the event this year.

The Closing date for entries is Thursday 7th September. Entry fee is €5 for one event or €10 for more than one event. The maximum number of events you can enter is 3.  Section A is for Classes 1 to 5. Section B is for classes 6, 7 and non-league. Don’t worry if you do not have a partner for a doubles event, just enter and we will pair you with a partner.

·         First round matches should be arranged yourself and later rounds will be scheduled.

·         Due to the tight timescale matches MUST to be played by the due date or else forfeited.

There are forms available in the conservatory or you can print one above. You can also email your entry to or or .  See attached forms for more details.
