posted 24 Feb 2016, 07:15 by Philip Mulligan

Three out of the seven teams entered in the Winter League have made it through to the playoffs with 3 of the other teams just missing out in third spot. The Ladies Class 2 lost 2-1 away to Navan and just missed out on the playoffs. The Class 3 team won 2-1 at home to Glasnevin and finished second in their group and qualified for the playoffs. The Class 5 team lost 3-0 away to Templeogue and just missed out on the playoffs by one point, while the Class 6 team won 3-0 at home to Kilternan and are through to the playoffs at home next week. Well done to Cliodhne and her team on team selection and to the four Ladies Team Captains, Sandra McKenna, Gemma Mulligan, Catherine Rossiter and Laura Judge. Thanks to Lesley for the coaching sessions for the Ladies and Men as they obviously paid dividends.  On the Men’s side the Class 6 team had their fifth successive 3-0 win away to Templeogue and topped the group. The Men’s Class 3 team lost 3-0 at away to Celbridge and the Class 7 team lost by the same score away to Leopardstown and finished third in the group and just missed out on the playoffs. Well done to club captains Gary Younger and Johnny Kelly for all the organising and the team captains Peter Kingston, Colum Whelan and Ed Gibbons. Best of luck to the teams in next week’s knockout stage. The Ladies Class 3 team are away to Castleknock and the Class 6 team at home to Naas – both matches at 11:00 while the Men’s team are at home to St. Marys at 11:00 also. All matches are on next Sunday so please come along and support the teams.
