July Hill Walk - Saturday 18th July - Lugnaquilla

posted 19 Jul 2015, 02:22 by Philip Mulligan

There was a great turnout on Saturday with 15 people taking on our biggest challenge so far which was Lugnaquilla, the highest peak in Leinster and the highest mountain in Ireland outside of Kerry standing at 925m. The weather was kind to us with a very slight shower on the way up but glorious sunshine on our descent. Unfortunately it was misty at the top so we weren’t able to get the full view however we were treated to some lovely scenery on our descent. The walk took a full seven hours as we popped over another peak on the way back so legs were nicely fatigued as we adjourned to the Glenmalure inn for much need refreshments. Special thanks to Tom Gallery for organising the walk and taking us the long way back! Click below to see photos from the day. Details of our next walk to follow in the coming weeks as we need to draw breath after this one.
